Ballet Shoes DVD
Set in Thirties London, Ballet Shoes tells the exhilarating tale of orphans Pauline, Petrova and Posy Fossil, who are adopted by an eccentric explorer, Gum, and raised as sisters by his selfless niece. The timeless and uplifting story revolves around each girl’s struggle to fulfil her dreams: Pauline longs to be an actress, Petrova yearns to be an aviator, and Posy seems born to be a ballerina. But when Gum disappears, the money runs out – and the girls have a fight on their hands. Their struggle to balance personal ambition with the need to survive physically, emotionally, and financially, proves moving and comic by turns. This timeless and uplifting story features an award-winning cast which includes Marc Warren (Hustle; Dracula), Dame Eileen Atkins (Gosford Park), Gemma Jones (Bridget Jones Diary), Robert Harry (Harry Potter; Shacklton), Harriet Walter (Atonement; Babel), Lucy Boynton (Miss Potter), Lucy Cohu (The Queens Sister) and Yasmin Paige (Sarah Jane Adventures). Adapted by and executive produced by acclaimed screenwriter Heidi Thomas (Lilies; I Capture The Castle) from the classic novel by Noel Streatfeild, Ballet Shoes is a heart-warming family drama that sparks the imagination of every young girl who dreams of the glamour of the stage. “It looks lovely beautiful” – Media Guardian “Victoria Wood was the best thing in it” – Times Online “Ballet Shoes was certainly well done, not least because it confirmed how good child-actors are these days” – The Telegraph

A dancewear question.?
what store real life store, (not an online store) sells leotards, tights, leg warmers, sweaters, and/or pink leather ballet shoes with straps unexpensivly that fits a 13 year old?
It depends on where you live. look in the Yellow Pages. There are lots of dance supply stores. I've also seen ballet shoes sold at some Payless Shoe stores.
well that depends on where you live…
Capezio, or Danskin. they both sell shoes and dance wear.
Hill's changed to a real life discount dance place so you can go on their website and check for their places
you can also check with your dance studio and they usually have a place that they tell their students to go to

I left my clothes in the same bag as a subway sandwhich for 3 months! Now left with terrible odor! HELP!?
I left all of my dance outfits (leotard, ballet shoes, tights, etc) in the same CLOSED bag as a subway sandwich for 3 months. i forgot about it and found today. there is a nasty, horrible stench left on it, and i've already washed it 3 times and sprayed a bottle of febreze on everything. what can i use that is cheap but will get the odor off of everything? otherwise will have to buy new stuff that will cost me hundreds of dollars! HELP MUCH APPRECIATED!
Soak your clothes in HOT water with your detergant and some pure baking soda. then wash them also with baking soda
spray them with fabreeze. then use a color safe bleach to wash them. and hang dry them. if that does not help i dont know what else to do.
Okay, that is absolutely disgusting. What were you THINKING putting those items in the same bag as a sandwich?!? Damn.
I doubt there's any way to get rid of that smell. The smell is probably deep in the fabric now. The amount of cleaning ti would take to get it out would ruin the fabric. Replacing those items also won't cost hundreds of dollars. I took dance class. A leotard is $50 at the most. I have no idea how much the shoes are, but buy used shoes. you don't need new ones. And tights are dirt cheap.
You know the old saying "my momma didn't raise no fool"? Well, your momma sure did raise a fool. God. if I ever put a sandwich in with some clothing, my grandma would slap me. if she ever got done laughing.
Buy new clothes and take better care of them.
LOL put it in the washing machine or let it airdry
Three months is a long time so I am sure you have a real nasty moldy smell on them all. first I suggest you hang them outside on the line for a few days- let the wind blow through them, turn them over every days. Nothing beats the wind to get rid of odors. then soak them for a couple of hours in soapy water- get a strong scented soap powder. Hang them out to dry on and with another peg , clip on some fabric softeners ( tissue kind) and leave till dry. hopefully, they should dry with a nice perfumy smell.
NOTE:
You should only do the above if you are sure the material has been eaten away by moths even- mold is not good for the skin too. it may have cost hundred of dollars but your health comes above that price. best of luck though!
As unconstructive as this advice is, it is very funny!
"1: take the items outside and put in a metal tub. 2: Pour some gas on the items and light a match. 3: Step away from the fireball that will erupt. 4: Presto… the stench is gone.
Wait a sec… I want to revise step 1… Leave the items in your house and light the gas. This way the fire department can come hose it down, thereby cleaning it for you since you're too lazy to clean it yourself. NASTY NASTY NASTY!!!! "
If you dont use your leotard and stockings very often, enough that you would put them in a Subway bag with a sandwich and forget about them both (How DARE you let a perfectly good sub expire!! for shame!!), then obviously you may as well just count it as a loss and throw it all out.. Buying new ones will hopefully keep you in check and remind you to be more responsible with expensive clothing! And who knows, maybe you will find better stuff available now (assuming that a crumpled, smelly leotard wont fit the same anymore after several washings)
Pretty gross. Dump the articles of clothing and go to Goodwill and try to replace (if you can't afford new).
mb
ditch the clothes..thats disgusting.

Wash the cloths with the detergent you have and hang the cloths outside for airing and let it dry by natural sun. maybe air it for 2 or 3 days. This will help .
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA ! I almost fell out of my chair after reading that. thanks…
my cats breath smells like cat food
Soak in vinegar over night and then wash as usual.

How do you sew ribbons onto leather, NOT pointe ballet shoes?
I got my new ballet shoes today and i have to sew ribbons on them but i dont know how.
They also gave me a pair of elastics.
Should i sew on the elastics too or just the ribbon?
Unless your teacher has specifically instructed you to sew on the ribbons, don't bother. its standard to just sew on the elastics for flat ballet shoes. This is how I sew my elastics on… I cut the elastic so I have four pieces, then I put the shoe on my foot. I then lay the elastic over my ankle, two on each, in a criss-cross, making sure that the elastic starts all the way back by the malleolus (the round bony part of the ankle joint on the sides). Pull the elastic as tight as you would want it, then mark on the elastic where it hits the shoe. Then just take the shoe off and sew on the elastics where you marked them. if you do need the ribbons on, they go beside the elastics, but again, unless you need the ribbon for a performance or because your teacher said so, don't worry about it. good luck.
Ask your teacher if they want you to sew the ribbons on too. my teachers want us to because it is standard in Russia with the Vaganova technique (and they are Russian), but most teachers do not want you to do this. But if they do want you to…..
I usually criss cross the elastics and then sew the ribbons on where my arch is when I'm wearing the shoe. You'll want to cut the ribbon in 4 equal pieces and singe the ends with a lighter so they don't fray. Then just make sure you sew them on securely!
go to you-tube and type in BALLET SHOE ELASTIC and you will get all kinds of videos on how to do it

Pointe Shoes? – Yahoo! Answers
I was just wondering what type of pointe shoes would be good for me if i ever do it. While on releve with flat ballet shoes, i have a high arch (my teachers tell me a lot). And pretty strong ankles(can stand without holding onto a bar or anything for 24 counts on releve without wobbling). please, any ideas will help!
Also, I am trying to deside which colour I like better:
– a white-ish colour
– or a light pink
Thanks!
I know this isn't probably going to be your favorite answer but, you should ask your teacher. She would know what shoe to recommend and make sure you get the right color. Alot of people get their own style & color of shoes without asking the instructor, then when it's time for a performance they need to buy new shoes to match every one else's
ok so i am like you: here are my favorite brands, grishko, russian pointe, block aspiration and block sonatas. the sonatas are awesome for beginners and then the rest of them are good too! its just whatever fits your shoe best! but most peeps have light pink out of anything!
I'm sorry for my english, my answer will contain a lot of mistakes. first of all, you have to know that all feet are differents and that you have to try before to buy. after, if you have a high arch, good brand are for me Bloch Serenade Strong (or other bloch), Freed Studio … the Grishko are really hard and for me too noisy. Gaynor Minden will certainly be too supple. Capezio will not show your foot.
just go for a fitting and they'll find great pointe shoes that will work for you !
I would go with the pink!
go with the pink! soooooo pretty!!
besides, white will get so dirty, so much faster;)
just by describing your feet you can't know what pointe shoes, or what size pointe shoes you'll need. when the time comes for you to get pointe shoes, you'll just have to get fitted and see. Everyone's feet are different and getting fitted is usually a long process, (i tried on 10-15 shoes before finding mine, but a friend found hers on the 2nd and 3rd!) Pointe is amazing…good luck!
…personally, i like a light pink,. :]
I love my Gaynor Minden Pointe shoes. I have no complaints about them. You can personalize they so that they fit perfectly to your feet and they work the best for your feet. They're really soft and they have a built in arch. they are also the quietest pointe shoes! That's always a good thing!
go to famous footwear and get a pair of light pink ballet flats. you will also need to special order a pair of arch cushions it will make it so that when you are performing you won't feel like your flats don't fit you and I would get a pair of white flats to you never know what your teacher will tell you to wear unless I have the perfect idea!~buy 3 pairs of flats a light pink, white, and black hopefully this works out for you

What kind of tights are ballet tights?
My 3 1/2 year old is going to be taking a dance class and they want the kiddos to wear leotards, tights and ballet shoes. The outfit and shoes I got but are there are certain type of tights/pantyhose she should use? She has a white & pink here at home but they're not that thick. any advice? Thanks!
when i took ballet as a kid any kind of tights where fine
The kids I usually have taken to ballet…use normal regular tights….but ask the dance studio..they would know.
ballet tights are thicker and stronger than regular tights. regular tights should be fine for awhile but they're going to get worn out much more quickly. when you take her to the class, ask the teacher where the nearest ballet supply store is, and go pick some up when you get a chance. or perhaps the teacher will say that regular tights are fine for now.
My daughter does ballet and her tights are a bit thicker than the thinnest kind of tights -therefore a bit stronger and they they fit really snuggly on her legs. you with tights, sometimes they move up and down the leg, with ballet tights they just stay put. I've seen other girls with regular tights, but they arent as good, maybe if they're too expensive you can ask the teacher whether she can wear regular tights.
thick tights either capezio or danskin
